Who is responsible

Berrymore MB, Vilnius, Lithuania, is the data controller for fairydery.com, app.fairydery.com, the Storytime: Tooth Fairy Tales app and the orders in our Etsy shop. Write to hello@fairydery.com with any question or request about your data. This policy is written in plain language to match how the product actually works.

What Fairydery is

You tell us a little about your child and we write a bedtime story with them as the hero. If you like it, you can turn it into a picture book: a cover and illustrations where the hero looks the way you describe them. Stories and illustrations are made with AI. There are no photos, no recordings of anyone, and children do not interact with the service.

What we collect

About your child — a first name or nickname, an age, what the story should be about and, optionally, who else is in it and who the story is from. To draw the hero: a few choices from a list — skin tone, hair colour, hairstyle, glasses or not — or, for Etsy orders, a few words of description. That is all we know about your child, and it is used only for that child’s stories and pictures. Please do not enter a surname, an address, a school or anything about health.

We never ask for and never accept photos of a child. Nothing is recorded from a child.

About you — your email address, if you leave it to read the whole story, sign in, or buy a book; purchase records (what was bought, when, for how much, and the email given at checkout or the store’s transaction number); and the stories and books we made for you.

Technical — the country your connection comes from, to show prices in your currency; the type of device and browser; a shortened, one-way hash of your IP address used only to limit abuse; and the steps of the flow (story created, email left, checkout opened, purchase made), recorded with the story’s number but without names, story text or pictures. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary request logs for a short time.

How the story and pictures are made

The text is written by an AI language model (Claude, run by Anthropic) and the pictures by AI image models (made by Google and Black Forest Labs, run by Replicate), both on our instructions. The name, age, tonight’s theme and who the story is from go into the text prompt so the story is about your child. The picture prompts contain only the appearance choices, the age, the theme and the scene — never the name. Nothing you enter is used to train those models, and it is never passed to advertising or analytics services: those receive only the fact that a story was created or a book was bought, and the amount.

Your email

If you leave your email to read the whole story, we send you that story and one reminder about the book. We send other news only if you tick the box that asks for it.

If you tick the box or buy a book, we email you about your book — when it is painted and ready, whether your child liked it — and, from time to time, new bedtime stories and offers from Fairydery, including a story of the week on Thursdays, until you unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of it at once. Your book and stories stay at their links regardless.

Emails are sent through Resend. Replies and letters to hello@fairydery.com arrive in our Google Workspace mailbox. Marketing emails record whether they were opened; nothing else about your reading is tracked.

Purchases

On the website, payments are processed by Stripe. We receive a confirmation of the payment, the amount and the email you gave at checkout, which we keep as a purchase record. Card numbers, PayPal and wallet details never reach us. In the app, Apple or Google handles the payment and we receive the transaction or order number, the product and the price.

In the Storytime app

The Storytime app for iPhone, iPad and Android makes the same stories and books as the website. This section is the full account of what the app collects, who processes it, how long we keep it and how to delete it.

What the app collects.

Who processes it. The child’s name, age, theme and who the story is from go to Anthropic, which runs the language model that writes the text. The appearance choices, the age, the theme and the scene descriptions go to Replicate, which runs the image models (made by Google and Black Forest Labs) that paint the pictures — the name never does. Apple (on iPhone and iPad) and Google (on Android: Google Play for purchases, Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications) process purchases and deliver notifications; neither receives the story or the child’s details from us. None of them uses what you enter to train their models. Everything is stored on servers run by Vercel.

How long we keep it and how to delete it. Stories, books and your guest record stay as long as you want to keep reading them. To delete everything, open Settings → Delete my data in the app: the stories, the books with their pictures, your email, the guest number and the notification address are removed at once and cannot be restored. Purchase records (transaction number, product, price — no names) are kept as accounting requires. You can also write to hello@fairydery.com and we delete it within 48 hours. The full steps, including deletion without the app, are in Delete your data below.

No ads, no tracking. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and sends nothing to advertising networks. Nothing about you or your child is sold, shared with advertisers or used to track you across other apps and websites. You can switch notifications off in the app’s Settings or in your phone’s Settings at any time. The rating prompt on Android is Google Play’s own In-App Review; nothing is sent from us to it.

If you installed the app from an Apple Ads ad, Apple tells us the campaign, ad group and keyword that led to the install. This contains no personal data and is not tracking; we use it to see which ads lead to books.

What we never collect: photos, recordings of any kind, location, contacts or health data.

Delete your data — Storytime: Tooth Fairy Tales

This section is for the Storytime: Tooth Fairy Tales app by Berrymore Apps (Google Play and the App Store) and for the fairydery.com website. It explains how to delete your account and data, with or without the app. Deletion is free and cannot be undone.

In the app: open Settings → Delete my data and confirm. Everything is removed at once.

On the website: open your profile page and use Settings → Delete my data. It removes every story, every book, your purchases and the profile itself, at once and for good.

Without the app: write to hello@fairydery.com from the email address you signed in with, or include a link to one of your stories so we can find the account. We delete within 48 hours and reply when it is done. No app, login or account needed.

Deleting only part of your data works the same way: say in the email what to remove — one story, one book, or just your email address while keeping the stories — and we do that within 48 hours without deleting the rest.

What is deleted: the stories, the books with their pictures, your email address, the guest number, the notification addresses of your devices, the sign-in records and any ad attribution record. What remains: records of purchases (order or transaction number, product, price and date, with no name or email), kept for as long as accounting law requires, and aggregate statistics that cannot be linked to you.

Orders on Etsy

When you order a personalised book in our Etsy shop, Etsy sends us its order notification — your Etsy name, the order number and the item — and we read the child’s details from the personalisation fields of the order: first name, he or she, age, the theme or what Santa should praise, who the book is from and, if you wrote it, how the child looks in words. We copy only the child’s details and the order number into our story engine; your name, email and payment stay in Etsy’s systems under Etsy’s privacy policy. We never ask for a photo.

The story, the pictures and the order record are kept for 14 days after the file is delivered, so that we can make the one free edit, and are then deleted. The finished PDF stays attached to your order on Etsy for as long as Etsy keeps it. Messages exchanged through Etsy stay in Etsy.

Who processes data for us

These providers act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes; none of them uses what you enter to train models. Most of them are in the United States, and transfers rely on the safeguards EU law provides for such transfers — the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, and standard contractual clauses otherwise. We do not sell or share personal information with data brokers or advertisers.

Why we may use it

To make and deliver the stories and books you ask for, and to handle purchases and support — because that is the service you asked for (performance of a contract). To send news, offers and the story of the week, and to measure visits with cookies in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. To keep the service safe, limit abuse and understand which steps of the service work — our legitimate interest in running it. To keep purchase records — because accounting law requires it.

Statistics and cookies

On fairydery.com we use Google Analytics and the Meta pixel to count visits and steps of the flow (story created, email left, checkout opened, purchase). Events carry no names, no story text, no pictures and no email addresses. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first; without it, only cookieless, anonymous counts are collected. On app.fairydery.com a single sign-in cookie keeps you signed in to your profile; it is strictly necessary and contains no tracking. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you and your child, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or object to how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw a consent you gave. Write to hello@fairydery.com: deletion is done within 48 hours, and we answer every other request within 30 days. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can also complain to a data protection authority — in Lithuania, the State Data Protection Inspectorate (vdai.lrv.lt). Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the same rights by statute, including the right to opt out of any sale or sharing — we do not sell or share, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Children

Fairydery is used by adults. A parent or guardian enters the child’s details and holds the account; children hear or read the result the way they would any book, without interacting with the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child. If you believe a child has given us data on their own, write to us and we delete it.

Changes

If we change how we use data we already hold, we will ask you again rather than apply the new terms retroactively. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
